More than a number

Apart from discovering the carbon footprint of your products, they will be added to the Klimato database, making them available to thousands of chefs using Klimato for recipe creation. What is an LCA?

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is the most accepted method among the scientific community to calculate the environmental impact of products, services and processes. With an LCA we can assesses the greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) emitted by a product during its life cycle stages. LCA allows to obtain the sum of the GHG emissions (output) arising from all the inputs (e.g., packaging material) that occur in each stage. The sum of these GHG emissions is often known as the Carbon Footprint.

To ensure accurate assessments, we'll guide you through a detailed data collection process. We use a combination of collected inventory data and our own extensive database that contains country specific emissions factors of food products.
