Our assessments follow the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology, ensuring a comprehensive and accurate evaluation of your product’s carbon footprint. We combine:
• Primary Data: Direct data provided by the food producer.
• Secondary Emission Factors: Insights from Klimato’s extensive carbon emission database.
When primary data isn’t available, we use the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodology to fill gaps and maintain accuracy.
The total carbon footprint is calculated in kilograms of CO₂ equivalents (kg CO₂e), covering all greenhouse gas emissions across the entire product life cycle — from production and packaging to distribution and food waste.
